I can hear you now.....I just bought my van and the van's dash is very dark, how do I know where the bulbs are? Well, I'm glad you asked. Here's a few pics to explain the location of the dash and console bulbs, and how to get at them for replacement.
Oh, one more thing. The rheostat (light dimmer wheel), conveniently located just below the Vanagon headlight switch where you will frequently knock it askew, can be adjusted to brighten or dim your dash lighting. Make sure it's not turned all the way down before you blame your dash's darkness on bad bulbs.
