The stock BMW K75RT offers a warning light when coolant temps exceed the acceptable operating temperature. I wanted a bit more clarity around the temperature of the engine coolant and decided to add an aftermarket gauge for monitoring. I am not a wealthy man (at least in terms of money) and found the cost of bmw add-on gauges to be quite high. I opted instead to go with VDO aftermarket gauges which are readily available and only required me to do some homework in order to understand what I needed in terms of the sender unit sizing and the ohm range of the fuel sender gauge.
Gauges can be easily added to the fairing interior panel by drilling a 2 inch diameter hole (there're even marks on the reverse side of the panel plastic to guide your placement) and slipping the gauge into place.

As to wiring, I installed a M10X1.0 temperature sender in place of the coolant drain plug, routed the wiring, and it's done.
I'll install an aftermarket fuel gauge once I have time to measure the resistance in the fuel sender wiring so as to determine the type of gauge i should purchase.
